It is kind of ironic honestly that although I go by “Ghost Fluent” I rarely go ghost hunting. In fact I am not a ghost hunter but rather someone who is a paranormal enthusiast.
I would actually love to do more ghost hunting, but I just never have the opportunity. I’ve gone a few times with my husband, just dabbled on our own. However, I have never gotten the chance to go with actual paranormal investigators.
Bonanzaville U.S.A. in West Fargo, North Dakota has done paranormal investigations during the month of October for a while now – but this year was the first year I was actually able to attend.
When I had gotten off work Friday morning I headed home to sleep for a few hours and then head to West Fargo.
The price of the investigation was $60 per person and included a 90 min investigation in 7 buildings with equipment provided. Ironically again…I actually don’t do many “Halloween” type of activates during the month of October as every month is “spooky month” for me, so the price was worth it for myself.
The price of the ticket included 2 drink tickets so with a Sprite in hand I wondered around the inside portion of the museum with my friend who came with me.
When the time for investigating came, everyone was broken up into groups and paired with a paranormal investigator. You’re then given equipment like an EMF, spirit box, thermometer, etc.

We headed off to our first stop which was the Pioneer Fire Company building. The fire hall was never used as it was built by Casselton, Fargo and West Fargo firefighters as a memorial to all area firefighters. It does however house fire fighting memorabilia and equipment. I don’t recall them stating what kind of paranormal activity had been observed within the firehall, but I personally had no experiences.

The second stop was the Houston House or at least half of it. Only the portion where the Houston family resided remains while the staff portion was separated.
The home was built by David Houston in 1881 in Hunter, North Dakota. Houston was an inventor and farmer. He is credited with inventing the roll camera mechanism that was sold to help create the Kodak camera. David lived in the home with his wife Anni and their son David Jr.
The Houston House is said to be full of paranormal activity ranging from EVPs, apparitions and the impression of someone laying in the bed in the room where Houston passed away.
I cannot say for sure if the others within the group had any experiences while within the house, but I did not.

The third stop was the Dobrinz School, which was the first school in Mapleton Township. It was built in 1895 southwest of Fargo and named after the farmer closest to it, John Dobrinz.
We didn’t spend much time within the school house and to be honest I didn’t feel anything while walking through it.

Our fourth stop and my favorite was the Railroad Museum. This was a place I had visited a few years prior and had felt off while walking through the trains, so I was excited to be heading back.
The Railroad Museum has various railroad equipment, but one in particular is a Northern Pacific passenger car.
While the others in our group split off, me and my friend decided to tackle the passenger car.
While walking through the dark train we were both nervously talking to each other fully just expecting to walk through and come off the other side.
However, something or someone…thought differently.
As I approached the end of the car I heard 3 knocks, turning to my friend I asked if they were coming from the outside, possibly from another member of our group.
She agreed that it has to be someone outside playing around with us. Just then we heard footsteps approaching but they never came. I was at the exit where they were coming from so if anyone was getting on the train I would of seen them or at least ran into them.
Noting the photo above, I took that as soon as we got on. The back right corner exit is where this all occurred.
I was lucky enough to get this all on camera, so we jumped off the train to ask the others who was knocking on the train. Apparently no one was even around the back of the train when this occurred.
I’ve attached the audio for your review.. also please ignore my absolutely LAME commentary.
Here are some rough timestamps
.23 three bangs
.33 – .34 footsteps?
.41 loud bang
1:12 bang and what sounds like a whisper?

The fifth and sixth stop was the Telephone Museum and Bjerklie Drug Store.
Both were interesting places to explore but I did not have anything paranormal related happen to me while visiting.

The last stop on our paranormal investigation was the Brass Rail Saloon and Hotel. Originally from Page, North Dakota, it was built in 1889.
This is said to one of the most active buildings on the property, however I myself did not have any experiences.

All in all the experience was great and the paranormal investigators we were paired with were super nice.
I went in with low expectations of capturing anything paranormal, but ended up capturing something truly inexplicable.
